About Me
I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing psychotherapy in New York City. I received my social work training at Hunter College, and I have a master’s degree in Neurobiology and Behavior from Columbia University. I also have in-depth training in Trauma Studies, and am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My work flows from a grounded understanding of humans as animals evolved for survival through social cooperation.
Before transitioning to psychotherapy, I spent over twenty years making documentary films. I am greatly influenced by the power of stories, and the therapeutic potential of creating new stories in collaboration with our trusted people.
I am a South Asian cis-woman of color, and a child of immigrant parents. I have been raised in the philosophy of yoga as a liberatory and truth-centered practice.
My Practice
I see clients both in person (office in Chelsea/Flatiron) and on telehealth. I ask that clients agree to a weekly schedule as we first get to know each other.
I am not currently in-network with any insurance providers, but provide documentation for out-of-network benefits. I also work on a sliding scale, which means that I work with my clients to find a fee that feels correct in the context of our relationship and financial realities.
The fee we agree on is part of an ecosystem that includes all my clients; if you pay more, you’re supporting my capacity to see folks who pay less.
